Husband Spends All Day Setting Up Doggy Gate—Result Quickly Backfires

A husband who worked all day setting up a doggy gate quickly learned that the barrier was no match for the dog and viewers can’t stop cracking up over the good attempt.
In an August 10 TikTok video posted to the account @delilahandsamson, a doggy gate was up and ready to use after the husband spent the day putting it in place. The mesh-looking gate stopped the owners’ two pit bulls from entering the room, or at least that was the hope.
You can see the dogs through the screen if you look close enough. The gap between the bottom of the gate and the floor also revealed their paws, which in hindsight should have been the first indication something wasn’t set up correctly. Both dogs stepped closer, but the younger pit bull turned and didn’t bother to figure out the gate. The older canine, however, proved the gate’s strength was no match after the owner placed a dog treat on the other side as a test.

The wife told Newsweek via TikTok that she knew her husband had installed the dog gate wrong, but he was adamant about testing it out. They all quickly learned that the dogs could barrel through whenever they wanted.
“It has since fallen out of the wall and doesn’t work anymore,” the wife said. “We are gonna put it lower after all the comments.”
She explained they realized the gate was too high after people shared their two cents. If their bigger dog could figure it out, there was no doubt the little one would also discover how to get under since “she’s the destructor.” The owners also learned they missed a crucial step—the lock.

“My husband has skills, they just might not be handyman,” she wrote in the comment section.
As of Friday, the TikTok video reached over 633,100 views, 9,693 likes and 183 comments. People flooded the comment section with suggestions and confirmation it wasn’t necessarily the husband’s fault; dogs are masterminds.
“The chonk shall prevail,” commented a viewer, while a second pointed out: “With little to no effort too.”

At least some confirmed it’s not them. Someone wrote: “We have the same one and our dog does the same.”
Another added: “We have ours at floor level and our dogs still go under it when it’s locked.”
