VINTAGE—1958—Strombecker BETSY MCCALL TABLE+CHAIRS —ORIGINAL DECALS

Description

In the 1950s, the Strombecker Company began producing wooden furniture, sized just right for the popular 8” child dolls sold during that period.
An exclusive edition of bedroom, patio and kitchen furniture, all with bluebird decals or blue and pink flowers, was made in 1958 for the 8” Betsy McCall doll.
With the leaf, the table measures 4 ¼” high x 8 3/8” long x 6” wide.
The removable leaf is 1 ½” wide.
The underside is stamped, (with a c in a circle) ‘McCall’s/ Made by Strombecker’ (some of ‘Strombecker is smeared and missing).
This wooden table is in played-with condition.
There are scratches in the paint on the top and a few tiny chips of missing paint on the edges.
There is a small crack on the rectangular piece in the center that allows the table to slide open and closed to put in or take out the leaf.
The paint on the bottom of the legs is either worn off or was lightly sprayed.
There are a few tiny paint chips on the legs and the inner edge has worn paint.
The chairs stay in the same order for each picture.
Each is stamped ‘Strombecker/ Made in U.S.A’
The two chairs on the left are in the best condition—both have light wear or chips in the paint.
The two chairs on the right have a lot of wear in the paint—the paint on one of these has darkened with age and these 2 have several loose legs (do not fall out).
Since this is a played-with set and not perfect, you may agree that it will be perfect for play or display, rather than having
a mint one that sits in a closet to keep it perfect.
I have been watching prices that Betsy’s furniture has been selling for recently on ebay.
Betsy’s table and chairs have not been in an ebay auction for me to guess what to use as my beginning bid, so I will tell you that several years ago I bought the table and 2 of the chairs (not sure which ones) for .50.
I didn’t keep track of what I paid for the 2 additional chairs.
To figure the beginning bid, I went down on the price I paid for the table and 2 chairs and count the 2 really worn chairs as ‘free’.

I have a smoke free home and I do not smell unpleasant odors on it.
In my opinion, this vintage piece of Betsy McCall furniture will make a nice addition to your collection.
